chordex
Chordex 1.0
General
This project visualizes the relations between different scientists of the media informatics faculty of the LMU Munich. Chordex was written by Yannick Gladow and Benjamin Sauer in the context of the LMU lecture Information Visualization in the winter semester of 2014/2015.
Technologies
Chordex is based upon the MI publication database and to allow an easier handling of the raw data, the pubdb_to_json_converter written by Alexander Schenker has been used. The website itself was build using Twitter Bootstrap and the graph heavily relies on the Chord Layout of d3js. If you want to extend or base other works on this project, feel free to fork us on GitHub!
How to use
Either use the different sliders at the bottom of the page to adjust the filter settings directly, or click "Redraw Graph" to redraw. If no graph is drawn, you either have to wait a little or there are no relations matching your filter criteria. Hint: Since the earlier years (1994-2000) don't contain a lot of data, there's a good chance, you will not find a lot of information there...
Sorry, no data matches your filter criteria! Please check your filter settings!
The chord diagram
Chord diagrams show relationships among a group of entities. In this example visualizing the PubDb, a database containing the paper-releases of the MI-faculty of the lmu. Use the filters on the right to only display people who (co-)wrote a certain amount of publications and/or worked with at least a specified number of people in a certain year. Single-author publications will be generously ignored.
